Still trying to figure out what's off the table here with AI tools streamlining game dev.  Unity's ML Agents, Unreal Engine's Blueprints, Nvidias PhysX's for physics, ModL for QA, Latitude for world building, openScad and Florasynth that uses generative AI to make trees and rocks? 2 nuclear power states trying to take Ukraine. Is the west gonna do anything?

We've been sending billions in aid... This has now become a quagmire that half of the USA doesn't support. Ukraine was on a path to peace but the west put them on the war path when Western officials urged Zelenskyy to tear up the minsk accords several years ago. Russia doesn't want anti ballistic missile systems on their borders to neutralize their defensive capabilites, and we just collectively said "fuck your feelings" and beat the war drum while waiting for Russia to make the first move.

No excuses for Putin for actually taking the bait, but make no mistake the west collectively set the stage for this conflict and has been acting fairly recklessly with its stifled support which has only elongated the conflict.

Now we are at a crossroads, and cooler heads are nowhere to be found. This ain't looking too good. Nuclear war is unlikely, but US boots on the ground and the resuming of the Korean-Russo war is just what the military industrial complex was looking for after Afghanistans "abrupt" end.

Meanwhile we sit here and cheer for our team while people are dying in the tens of thousands. Not that you and I can do fuck all about it.

Man, this discourse is making me want to scream. This whole ship is hanging off the franchise like a boat anchor. LiS wasn't even the best game in the series and Max and Chloe aren't even the best characters. It's preventing what is one of the most well executed "interactive drama" series from really spreading its wings and exploring awesome places. Double Exposure is EXCELLENT. And despite some weird bugs and visual glitches in the preview chapters it's the best the series has ever been. The performance capture is fantastic, the environments are cozy and beautiful, the mystery is way more interesting, the writing is better (both in terms of plot and dialogue), the interactivity is more polished. I just don't care about Max and Chloe anymore. And I say that as someone who has been arguing that Bae is a much better ending than Bay since the games first came out. But enough already. The fanbase is just becoming insufferable.

My genuine hope is that DeckNine goes full troll mode in the final chapter. Like Max gets a text from Chloe that just says, "I'm here." Then the camera pans up to show Chloe standing on the roadside. She starts running across the street to Max and then BAM. Flattened by an ice-cream truck. Then an 18 Wheeler. Then some coyotoes drag the corpse into the woods. Then Toto's Africa starts playing as the credits roll.

It wasn't an all consuming conflagration or the nightmare of Nepenthe Ascendant, but the fact that he was able to wordsmith that thread through the needle of every bloodthirsty sub-clique of the forum and and silence all dissent was impressive in its own right.
