I do feel like like I've been seeing more of it lately but I think that might be the impact of how loose social media moderation has become, especially on Twitter. I never hear it in real life and when I see it online, it's usually from a right-wing chud.

I actually almost got caught up in her motorcade once near an airport. I got on the freeway using a lesser used side street just after a major intersection that people use to get on the freeway. I saw police stopping traffic up the street at the intersection and just assumed it was a local issue. Then I got on the freeway and it was virtually empty which was weird for 3 PM. I saw about 3 other cars, then I started seeing other entrances with police cruisers blocking traffic. Then a police cruiser came up from behind me and told me to exit immediately. The guy in the passenger seat was wearing a suit and not a police uniform. It wasn't until I got home that I found out Kamala Harris was driving through and that guy was likely secret service.

With all of that I'm kind of amazed someone got through, but if they were going the wrong way they probably had an easy time using the empty off ramp to get on.

I'm not surprised that left wing people would be using the term because to put it simply, most people really don't understand and don't care about mental health or neurodivergence (It's something 100% should be taught in Schools... But no way trust either the UK or US systems to do it properly) and just because your left doesn't mean you're progressive on every group; like in my area, their are so many left wing people who suddenly become hateful the moment you bring up Roma people, or the Irish or Trans people.

It's also not surprising because back in the mid-00s, I found it very common for "leftists" online to use body shamming and ableism against gamergate chuds and other related groups which as I've said elsewhere stung because the clear implication was that these people thought Autism = bad person, a chud, a misogynist, violet etc which stung so fucking much. And it was frustrating because if you tried to push back, you'd get accused of supporting the chuds because these "allies" didn't see the problems in calling chuds, "Obvious mentally ill!" etc.
