It's not like the criticisms of AI are all completely void of merit; people have a tendency to jump into new tech without properly weighing the pros and cons, and mitigating the cons. Like smartphones. It's basically consensus now that smartphones have drastically damaged entire generations of kids, because it was the shiny new tech that could do all these things and they are so wonderful.

But RE is not doing any sort of careful harm mitigation with nuanced integration of the benefits. No, their Religious Leaders have passed down The Word from on high that AI Is Evil, so now they're just mindlessly parroting the decree.

The thing that really gets my goat is artists, instead of just being sad that things aren't going the way they would like, have to position themselves as the Lenses of Humanity, that while farmers losing their jobs as tech advanced was no big deal because it was just work, our furry art is where you can truly see the soul of humankind. We are better than them, they imply. My art is more important than food, and you can't see the human soul in the blood sweat and tears they put into cultivating their land, instead you can only see it in my fan art of Steven Universe kissing Mario.

My close relative is STILL, STILL somehow fucking worshipping the man. The worst part is the neighborhood of hers is still trumpy as all hell and her next door neighbors are the biggest idiot trumpers you can imagine. They had fucking football pizza parties every weekend in Fall 2020 in our basement without masks, despite me begging and kneeling on the ground for them to mask up and stop coming over that fall since I worried my relative would get sick. I fucking hate this tension. I fucking hate how if we lose there's no way to fight back or counter or avoid dying or anything bad. No backup or guardrails. And it's fucking 50/50 with my lingering, giant anxiety of something like a Harris surprise to derail her still coming out considering how the current media environment would clearly latch onto anything remotely possible to stick on her. The fact the Trump remarks about hitler weren't the biggest headline on newspapers everywhere yesterday is DAMNING. I want my relative back, I want that 180, I want the happy family reunion. But I'm doomed to not get it, it seems.

I both want this to be over, and at the same time I want the song of time so we can treat Election Day like the moon crashing and thus avoid having to deal with it. I'm gonna phone bank my damn best this weekend for WI and I'm worried as shit about social anxiety/spam emails, but not as much as having my LGBT friends or myself getting hurt under a Trump Term 2. Maybe it's my vibes/dread but I really worried about the sheer amount of women at my voting booth being elderly when i went early to vote; all that just makes me worried Trump or GOP folk are gonna sweep the country outside of blue states meaning MI will go Blue, PA may go either, and WI/AZ/NV will go red. GA is a who the heck knows since Atlanta could surprise me as it did last time. :(

I just remember how in 2016 a bunch of the white women independents leaned for trump, and I just dread that happening again OR they vote blue on everything but trump because they're nostalgic for dumbass covid prices.

I know I said earlier I'd break from the thread and yea a good break did help but god damn it, the whammy of a stressful poll, the Elon/russia story, and the hitler stuff being under the radar really made my bluesky feed doom, even the usually positive people. He must have changed colleges because they’re barred from being on campus. Hope his credits all transferred! And yeah he was a junior, this would be his final year if he hadn’t joined up with the Hamas Society.
