I've been doing this with Tears of the Kingdom recently.  I didn't go totally blind. I did see the official Nintendo trailers. I did miss the big presentation on gameplay systems, tho.

But a game with some many systems and secrets like Tears of Kingdom, it's very easy to go Youtube/GameFAQs for some quests, and such. Or get the best designs for the Zonai equipment.  I did use Youtube with BOTW a lot, mostly for the armor sets and extra stuff.

This time avoided this completely.  It's been fun just exploring and learning the world, quests, secrets, etc. It's been fun building my own Zonai creations without "templates". I regretted not doing that with BoTW.

Also, I don't think using supplemental media is bad.  Games are big today and they're a big time commitment. But going blind does reminds of gaming my childhood, before the internet, the joy and wonder of finding new things on your own.

2009 was a pretty dire time for sci-fi IIRC, so it's not surprising District 9 got the reception it did. I just don't care for its unwillingness to commit to being a faux-documentary (turns into being shot like a regular movie whenever it's most convenient) + its lazy commentary on apartheid (literal bugs who aren't even being oppressed but are just lazy refugees). 

It's hilarious how Avatar got the racial flack just a few months later when D9 is the one that can actually be argued as being offensive.

And finally. I must also note that in my experience, where it pertains to growing as an individual, the most important aspect has been learning to not be the oppressor. I guess in some ways i still think that to embody "being a man" is to embody a heritage of oppression, which i honestly don't think i can disagree with. But again this is convenient to me as i have a specific relation to gender that allows me to not have to consider these things as living concerns.

See your problem, like most of the forum, is that you've never defined oppression other than "difference" so you think "oppressor" is an inherent state to an "identity" when it's actions and morality. You're a forum full of oppressors with irrelevant identities because you almost entirely all see others as nothing but a means to your ends. You haven't even gotten past Kant and you're trying to not "embody a heritage of oppression" by establishing a permanent caste-like hierarchy of oppression based on superficial identities.

From 937k peak viewers at launch, to 12.2k peak viewers today. Now, had Diablo 4 been a single player game, this would have been completely fine. However, Diablo 4 is a live service which launched in a pretty half baked state and season 1, which many hoped would fix many of these issues present since launch less than 3 weeks ago.

This season was supposed to last 3 months and its gone from 278k -> 12.2k in less than 3 weeks. Ironically, both viewership and search interest declined by the exact same amount, 87%, not ideal for a live service offering.

So with the above, do you think this paints an accurate picture of how Diablo IV is doing right now or do these two metrics being used not really show a full picture?

For me, I stopped playing the first week of Season 1 but I still visit the OT from time to time and it seems like it's still doing fairly well. I know that's a very small sample to use but I didn't think the game fell off as much as this indicates. Obviously viewers isn't the same as players but it definitely illustrates that interest has indeed fallen off. As mentioned though, not bad for a single player game but for something online it seems... fast to drop off?

The more likely explanation is that many streamers played Diablo IV when it was new and moved on to other things as they do constantly. The people still playing and still searching for streams of people playing Diablo IV will be people interested purely in Diablo IV not in watching streamers being streamers. Games that don't fall off (and even then I'd love to see some data on this since I suspect the same effect occurred for them) are those which can be played repeatedly like Fortnite/PUBG/Warzone/etc. where the streamer remains the star of the content.

Feel like ResetERA.com could do with having a couple basic research design and data study courses.
