The simple of it is that one of our members started posting 'haha funny Trump won' memes in our discord as well as other things implying that all lgbt folks are pedophiles.  The DM banned him because they don't tolerate that kind of nonsense.  Two other members jumped ship afterwards, one because he was friends with the first guy and had more fun in game with him, and the other because he thought he should be banned as well for believing that pedos were hiding amongst lgbt groups. 

So now our group doesn't have enough players to continue.  The two of us that remain are still willing to keep going and are friendly with the DM.  He said we'll try to pick things up in January but I'm not sure if we'll pick up new folks or not.  I've only been in two D&D games in my whole life, the first one I ended up leaving because of group tensions and now this one is messed up too.  *sigh*  I don't fault the DM for what they did, I agree with it honestly.  I'm just sad that this happened.

I don't have an answer. But "change nothing in how progressives communicate" does not strike me as a winner.

This wasn't a Kamala problem per se but I do think she was hobbled by association with some of the more annoying aspects of the progressive sphere that do come across to others as patronizing and un fun. You might say this is unfair and those people are bigots. I agree. But it's also clearly not really working to win elections, if that's the goal. And maybe that's not the goal, but for Democrats it sort of has to be because by definition, parties exist to win elections.

There are leftist men on TikTok, Twitter, YouTube, and IG talking about masculinity and men's issues all the damn time.

They're not as successful as the right because there's less money to be made in saying that issues regarding sociability and loneliness are partly the fault of one's own insecurities and inadequacies. There's less money to be made in not shitting on women and queer people. There's less money to be made in saying that you are a special protagonist and everyone else is wrong about why you're down on your luck. And because there's more money in these viewpoints, they get pushed harder by the algorithm. Simple, comfortable answers to life's problems along with a dose of outrage and scapegoating is a hell of a drug cocktail.
