I don’t know or necessarily care to learn the history of these guys. But the guy sharing the grooming story being in his 40s makes it way worse. We’re talking 25 to 30 years ago? This was when you had A/S/L freaks cruising AIM and IRC chatrooms. This was when people still treated online presence with anonymity. This was a time before To Catch A Predator aired. He wouldn’t accidentally find himself in those situation. That’s actually really bad.

I was posting on forums when I was literally a kid, and in hindsight it makes me feel super creeped out that I was like, 12 years old and properly friends with grown men on MSN who I only knew because of console wars. I was a good lad so I never even got near 4chan or anything like that, we're talking ostensibly normal and well regarded forums of yore attached to magazines.

As I got older I realised how much wrogness was going on in the background between others that I was too naive to notice. It was wild west time and when I see the creepy actors like Plaigiarise and Kyuuji going about their business I see an identical MO, except they've got plausible deniability because in 2024 people are somehow freaked out less with this stuff than they were 20 years ago.

Some of these people entered the industry, some of them became relatively famous. There's one guy who I can guarantee you will all have seen screenshotted for one of his funnies. He let me stay at his place in London when i went to a gig, got me work experience in the industry when I was 15 and he was in his 20s. I went to a launch party with him for an Acclaim game, I was given drinks and partied. He later came out and I was like...did that dude try to groom me? I thought we were buddies.

Plaigarise grooming his wife 20 years ago does not make it okay now, or ever. He was literally a grown man grooming an underage girl from another country. He can tell himself he waited and that makes it fine, but it isn't, it's properly bad and he should be nowhere near a forum let alone mod of one based on that bit of self disclosure.

When I see a Kyuuji, or a Melody or a Plaigiarise, I think what dark internet secrets are you dissociating your identity from.
