What an insane thing to say. Clearly it didn't ensure equality. Though it was better than what the South wanted. The alternative would have been that the slave states would have had even more electoral college votes and more house seats. They wanted to treat slaves as equals only when it came to demographic data so they could strengthen their power in the federal government. That being said, praising it and saying it wasn't pro-discrimination is fucked up and disgusting.

The arguments behind transphobic arguments and laws reinforce the idea that men are just ticking time bombs of violence and rape because of testosterone and biological factors unique to a typical cis man. Which is scientifically nonsense and misogynistic all at once.

It's saying women are biologically and born delicate flowers who must be protected because they are too weak to fight back. Which is a classic misogynistic entre served on a silver platter.

Transphobia and transphobic rhetoric being spread by people, the media and politicians boxes boys into a corner where they grow up believing they are broken, biologically destined to be monstrous, and irredeemable - driving them straight into the arms of human garbage like Andrew Tate. Great job. Really nailed that "protection" thing.

The Real-World Consequences Are Blood-Soaked

These suggested guidelines and laws could make it easier for traffickers and predators to exploit gender policing. Transgender sex workers may be for forced to work in men's public toilets for example.

By forcing trans women into men's bathrooms and hospital wards, violence is almost guaranteed and turning public spaces into surveillance zones where everyone - cis, trans, intersex - gets policed, judged, and threatened. There's already been an increase in violence against cisgender women who don't fit a misogynistic beauty standard, being questioned and attempts to stop them from access spaces they should. Intersex people are not just legally erased but can also not look typically male nor female.

Already through my own experience - job prospects for trans and non-binary people have dropped and HR, middle and higher management in companies are panicking and abandoning their support of Genderqueer employees because companies are scared of "controversy."

Altogether it gives a giant middle finger to any notion of gender equality, telling trans people "we will protect rights for everyone except you."

Moderating is a tough job. Keeping posts clean from extreme hate requires lots of staff who can do things quickly and consistently. The entire mod team is fully committed to keeping this space safe for trans members of our community. I myself am trans, and other staff members are as well. We are not doing everything correct, but we are working diligently to make sure people feel safe here. You can help by reporting comments and posts, and we will ban them as fast as we can!

As I’ve said elsewhere, I think you need to do two things:

1: Open up mod applications

2: Shut the discourse down. Institute a ban on new posts about genital preference. Don’t just lock the posts, delete them.

We do indeed get rid of a lot of “genital preference” posts, but we keep ones up where there is an actual substantive issue, like someone is looking for advice, or talking about the drama in a meta sense, or advocating for trans people.

I am trans myself. I see many posts here, and delete them, that have made me feel horrible. But I’m trying to do my best to foster a community where people feel safe, while also keeping up genuine dialogue where people need help. We don’t always get things right, but we are trying.

Thank you for trying to keep us welcome. TERFs seriously need Saint Celestine.

In the comments you'll see a bunch of people saying it's all fine and fair because Zangief has thigh jiggle physics and some of the men have pec/arm physics. Which is exactly the same shit people on ERA are saying in response as to why the significantly more sexualized outfits and physics on female characters are okay, so they can happily cheer it on.

My fault for expecting better, the genre and community are inseparable from that boys club mentality.

And surely even in this thread you're going to get people defending and explaining why it's not that bad.
