Antisemitism doesn't require logic and nuance, but you can probably imagine why Iran would be OK hurting Jews as they've always sort of been. Part of the complexity of criticizing Israel is also acknowledging that there's quite a lot of antisemitism baked into some of it. That doesn't count as a defense of Israeli action, but it helps people understand why a country like Iran would go to the trouble of trying to hurt or threaten Jews elsewhere. It's not as if extremists aren't antisemitic... they generally always have been. What Iran gets out of this is creating chaos and fear and uncertainty, which leads to fractured relationships and destabilized societies, which is sort of the Russia (and others within that power alliance) anti-western playbook. States meddle. Russian bot farms were also involved in a lot of antisemitic and racist conspiracy posting that proliferated social media during the Trump campaigns. A lot of that was homegrown western antisemitism too of course. But picking apart minority communities and creating chaos is in the playbook.
