This was inspired by the recent two Princess Isekai threads and it got me to think, ERA, were you into Princess fiction and stuff as a kid?

From wearing pretty Princess dresses, pretended to be a Princess or roleplayed being Princess with your friends, wanted to be a Princess when you grew up, played with Princess dolls, watched Princess films like Disney's and Don Bluth's works and related films etc?

This is a bit of an odd no and yes for me because I grew up thinking I was a boy, not realizing I was trans so wasn't really able to experience this, at least publicly and in this reality. I always preferred the Princess characters over the Princes in Disney works (sorry their nearly all so dull and yes that includes Aladdin and Flynn!) and I would imagine myself as a Princess being swept away and ravished by the dashing villainess, saving me from the humdrum and Elitist world of Royalty and take me to the dark side... Uh too much information there sorry! But yes this wasn't something I really didn't get to truly experience as a kid which is kind of sad.

Nintendo cherry picking which third parties get special treatment during the initial stage of the console launch would be good for the consumer in terms of us maybe getting more top quality products on the system, problem is we are getting close to nothing, or titles that frankly won't be system sellers (while leaving some that would out of the table too).



I get that they want their own games to be the focus of their console, but in the great year of 2025 you'd hope their mentality changed a bit. Not to mention, it doesn't even seem like they are sending out any dev kits out now, meaning this situation will likely stay the same for the next forseeable future. It's so odd.

No. I associate princesses with usually more than 1 aesthetic that I really did not like (and still do not like):

1. Extreme amount of jewelry--in numbers or in size--, to the point that I question whether they are weighed down by it. The worst offenders tend to wear something, or a collection of somethings, on their head.
2. An obviously impractical hairstyle, often to go with the extreme amount of jewelry, that look more like it is an art piece of some kind than a hairstyle.
3. Intricate patterns on the clothes that assault the senses too much, added on top of all the jewelry.
4. Giant puffy dresses that look like they take up several people's worth of floor space.

There is a quantitative inflection point somewhere along the lines of increased nobility and opulence where it flips from looking fancy to looking repulsively extravagant. In Chinese works, I find that the inflection point is usually those living within and without the imperial palace. In Western works, dukedom is usually where the aesthetic crosses into ugliness.

Fortunately, modern works featuring a princess as the protagonist seem to run with the concept of the princess without leaning too heavily into the aesthetics. I suspect part of it is that it is cheaper to draw, but it works out in the end.

Still, I almost always prefer the design of the maid to the princess.
