I do not appreciate being attacked over my OP. I did state "a history that is NOT widely taught in schools," as I understand it is taught in some schools, but the history is not WIDELY TAUGHT in all schools. This is a problem I see with public education in the U.S. as there is not one widely used curriculum used for many subjects in schools.

The US has been pretty shitty to France over the past few decades, but to the people in France in 1944 they would have still taken a flawed liberation done not purely of selfless reasons over the status quo. Back in October they banned students and staff from wearing face coverings in school. As always this law was targeted towards Muslim women and girls who wear the niqab. The previous excuse of security reasons went out the window after governments forced everyone to wear face coverings during the pandemic and nothing happened. Note that there are only an estimated 10-25 niqab wearing women in the whole province.
