It's annoying to hear, especially as someone that has been wishing Hasan was smarter about his coverage of Platner for a long time now. Platner's had an overstuffed skeleton closet from the jump and Hasan was informed enough that he should've avoided this entirely.

BUT I kind of get it too. Separating the man from his ego, he's someone who is on every day and is under intense scrutiny at all times, things which he willingly puts himself in a position for, is well-equipped to handle, and thus I'm not going to give very much weight on its own. But combined with the fact that he HAS been harassed by Destiny and his unhinged fanbase ceaselessly for many years and...I also kind of get why he lashes out that way sometimes. He shouldn't if he doesn't want to alienate his viewers that have cogent critiques, and I hope he eventually handles this sort of thing better. But if I were under that same amount of pressure and was the subject of constant harassment I think that would probably color my own worldview even more than it has him if I'm being completely honest.

No, you don’t. You are justifying someone behavior while never giving signals of improving or taking valid criticism to account.

How they don’t realize they are doing the same thing that people did with Platner?

Many of those cuts were industry veterans… the kind of people that the industry desperately needs to maintain given the snail pace of game development and dependency of contractors.

The shrine is stupid, I agree, but I don’t think half of them got fired because “laziness”.
First I didn’t say they were lazy, I said they likely had coworkers who wanted them gone, just like anyone else in any other industry.

Second, neither you or I know the actual quality of the work these people produced or how much the company paid them or any other relevant data we would need in order to judge the appropriateness of their firing. But I will say “veteran employees of Bethesda” doesn’t mean a lot to me when I see a company that has squandered the past decade.

How is he harassed? You mean people responding to his public tweets? Or the few dissenting voices among the tens of thousands in his moderated chat while he publicly streams every single day posing as an all knowing commentator? ???

I was talking about Id, a studio that was part of Bethesda. Yeshrug

Maybe they were not in the corny memorial, but the industry is in a desperate need of talent retention and we know that Microsoft punished two Bethesda affiliate studios for not achieving vague ill defined expectations around a key service. So I suspect the what Microsoft considers “redundant” has not a lot to do with perceived quality.

My favorite part is actually the first thing he says, that AIPAC is the largest contributor to members of Congress. Leftists/progressives with zero clue how much money is actually spent on elections and where/how is one of my kinks.

AIPAC donated $3 million during the 2024 election. The actual largest group, the National Association of Realtors, yes, the realtors lobby, contributed $4.2 million and their PAC spent $11 million. Blue Cross/Blue Shield contributed $2.9 million. The Beer Wholesalers contributed $2.8 million. The Sugar Lobby contributed $2.8 million. All the Labor PACs combined to donate $71 million. The Air Traffic Controllers contributed $2.2 million. Auto Dealers contributed $2.5 million. Nancy Pelosi's own PAC (almost every candidate has them) contributed $1.5 million to candidates, with other Democrat leaders like Steny Hoyer ($1.6 million) and Hakeem Jeffries ($1.1 million) combining to outspend AIPAC by 150% just between the three of them. The pro-cypto progressive PAC spent $34.5 million. The League of Conservation Voters spent nearly $50 million. Whatever the Black PAC is spent $27 million to lose 70% of the races it donated to. The Black Progressive Action Coalition spent $1.8 million, half of it on Genocide Kamala. Whatever the fuck this is spent $5 million.

Just Kamala and Trump spent $3.5 billion. All Congressional candidates combined spent $3.6 billion. ActBlue alone coordinated $3.8 billion.

Their conception of politics is just so hilariously naive. That Israel (or any single lobby) can just spit into the ocean and dictate literally everything without any trouble. At the helm of an enterprise, the state, that literally possesses omnipotent powers so any limitation must be because of nefarious forces.

How does this man keep up with all of this?

I would wager he never spent more than an hour with that cash grab “game” much like the rest of us who were excited at the thought of mobile Mario Kart after MK8 was so damn good.

Do we really need to preserve all of these dying phone games now? How many new data centers will we need to store all of this micro-transactional “content”? In 20 years are people going to develop archaic iOS emulators to re-experience these DLC storefronts disguised as games?

Some things should just die.

I wouldn't so quickly rule out that Jeff was paying the $5 a month for the Gold Pass. He pays $8 a month for Twitter and also for an untold number of streaming services he references regularly. (Also the way he refers to them cancelling it on "everyone" in the first tweet.)

Gonna be real, I got zero respect for the dudes who worked on that campaign. It's not just the red flags, it's the fact they not only didn't quit en mass when the story came out, but that they tried to stick around and try to put their finger on the scale in terms of finding a replacement. When the shit about Swalwell came out, his staff quit that afternoon. These guys stuck around to try and play politics.

All these Microsoft acquisitions have proven is that there is very little value in acquiring studios because there's no real value to them outside their IP and maybe the occasional bit of custom engine work.

They are all mostly using commercial third party engines and the key creative people are mobile and not likely to stick around for long after a big corporate takeover.

The only way to be successful with acquisitions is to industrialise the development process to a point that it doesn't matter who is making the games any more because it's just a production line of slop.

This approach has a limited shelf life because the customer base will only keep consooooooming cookie cutter shit for so long and will gravitate towards something that feels fresh and new...something that's usually produced by independent or semi-independent studios that have the agility to try new things.

Look at CoD for example or the Ubislop releases.

It's just all diminishing returns because the formula is stale and the customer base smells it.

Acquiring studios is strategically about acquiring expertise and knowledge, but that expertise and knowledge isn't tied down in the long term.

I like to think is less about Israel and more about people just guiding themselves in based of vibes and social pressure.

I said this many times before, but many leftists just want a lefty Trump and they don’t like introspection because “they are in the right side of history”. ERA tends to use the same arguments as Magatards use to defend Trump and they don’t want to realize it. They pretend that half of them didn’t cheer for Platner while supporting other candidates with questionable past but with the vibes of being progressives.

People that only want a lefty Trump are going to get, sooner or later, just a Latin American shit talker that is going to do what Trump does but with a leftie spin.

Half of ERA thinks that Israel/Iran started on “October 7” and were tempted to glaze the Ayatollah because “USA bad. They have no familiarity with any unionized industry so they think unions get to just run the companies or something and nobody can ever get fired. Like, the state of the American car industry is right there to look at lil bro. Or hell, even the faux-unions of Hollywood that only have the shrinking leverage because of industry-wide strikes where nobody crosses the picket line. lol
