In 2025, data centers were estimated to generate about $895 million in real and personal property tax revenue, a little over 95% of the county’s entire operating budget. Different companies, different states, same pattern: developers, not residential ratepayers, are increasingly footing the bill for infrastructure upgrades in the local communities that host them. Whether it’s a revenue formula in Ohio, a full-cost power agreement in Missouri, or watershed restoration in New Mexico, the through-line is the same. That through line is precisely the opposite of the “hidden costs dumped on neighbors” narrative manufactured to justify moratorium proposals across the country.

This is going to sound ridiculous, but apparently Ive been running the same character arc for the last 14 years.



At some point in 2012, I told someone I knew that I was a transwoman. Within a couple of days I had reconsidered the entire thing and took it back.



And then... nothing. For years.



I genuinely didn't spend much time thinking about gender or trans stuff after that. Then, in 2024, I had another one of those moments and told my partner at the time that I thought I was a transwoman. Once again, I eventually convinced myself that I wasn't. To be fair, being in a relationship with a woman gives me a pretty strong sense of ....yeah, I'm definitely a dude.



Fastforward another couple of years and somehow I'm back here again.



I watched a show and something about the trans-related stuff in it got me thinking. Not in the "oh, maybe?" way this time, but more in the "wait... have I really been ignoring this for years?" way.



Because when I actually look back at my life, there are some things that suddenly make more sense.



So I guess that's where I'm at now.... I'm more convinced than I've ever been that I'm trans. Im in my mid 30s this year.



I'm really NOT happy about being trans, but at this point I'm pretty damn sure I am. Fuck me, I guess.



Any input is welcome. Im truthfully not really sure what to do...

This is how a lot of polling, especially the polling on issues that Era swears by, works. The oldest one is ask Americans about universal health insurance and it also is like 80+%. Then ask them if they want it if their taxes go up and it collapses. Ask if people want Medicare4All with the actual tax increase that would be needed and it doesn't even get a plurality. Similar reason Obama was so insistent that "if you like your health insurance you can keep it" as it was going to literally become illegal.
 
Even something you think wouldn't be like this, like gun control or abortion, also falls apart if you start polling on the specifics. If one were cynical one might ask why all the pollsters continue to poll on the broad vague things knowing that none of it is representative of what is actually specifically supported.

But the pulling from Uncle’s fart is also manipulative, or at least he is framing it like “if the plebes knew the benefits”

Achievement is important but our society is much more connected than it ever was intended to be by biology. Leaderboards and game achievements actively hurt enjoyment at the same time as they drive engagement for some people.

The saddest part to me is that a lot of people become conditioned to think winning is all that matters when that is a thing that will never, ever fill their bucket. They're playing a bad to neutral result game then. If it's process you play for, you're on a neutral to good spectrum. That's where flow state and personal mastery come from.

It's not remotely a loaded question. The broad one is the loaded question because it allows the respondent to pretend the choice is cost-free rather than deal with what they're actually choosing to forego.

The benefits in those conditionals are inherent, not anything the corporations have to do. The locality just has to not give them a tax break. Outright banning it is saying you don't want the improvements or tax revenue.

I just don't like when people talk lightly about psychosis without having any experience of it. I suffer from moderate psychosis and I don't think people who never suffered from it really understand what it means to have a psychotic episode. I know good and smart people who ruined their life

I get that. I've dealt with psychosis and many schizo-adjacent issues too. Its living nightmare territory. Psychosis is one of those egregious pathologies (kind of like how people selective empathize with overt abuse like physical and sexual, when psychological and emotional abuse can fuck a person up as much or more), but there is a wide, varied scope of mental health problems that can drive people over the edge in the same way, while often not given the same judgement or leeway. People cant see the subtle, the invisible, side of things.

Since this was only eight minutes long and since I ran off doops by making fun of his Super Mario World review, I braved this:


Takes nearly three minutes before he actually starts to talk about the game. He's mostly just listing information from the manual or in-game info boxes. He's called RetrospectGreg but yet he's treating me as if I've never even heard of this game let alone played it.
