Oh well, I guess I won't be playing Twisted Tower after all :/

The game looks excellent.

But for those that don't watch his YouTube channel, Thomas Brush will platform anyone with an audience to boost his own microphone, including Mahler, Blow, or beyond. Very gross.

I don’t like Mahler and I get why people dislike Blow… but why people take game developers to a higher moral standard than politicians that associate with a podcaster that electrocuted his dog?

Isn't Era's position also largely that most game reviewers are biased/wrong/etc. and their scores untrustworthy?  

I didn't even know about this site but I looked it up, via Kotaku whining about it, and all it does is show the difference between the critic score and user scores: https://videogamescritic.com/

There are music websites that have done this for a long time. https://www.albumoftheyear.org/ literally places user and critic scores equally since music critics are so infamously biased in the sense of out of touch with the larger populace and also out of touch with genre niches because their taste is "refined" and its seemingly impossible to be broad enough to actually like and "know" every genre well enough to speak in an informed way about it. Nobody questions this (or film critics largely*) but when it comes to video games everybody loses their minds.

To just pick another game that's fallen from the popular ones on the front page:

87 at launch → 66 today
Fell apart: -21 points since launch
Press and the first weeks of player reviews put it at 87. Players reviewing the current build have it at 66. The VGC Score follows the game as it is today, not its launch.

It also looks like it tracks when movement occurs, Delta Force for example mentions that the score was falling post-launch but has stabilized since the patch a few weeks ago.

What a week. Folks might remember I posted about finding a lump on my cat earlier this week. Welp, the time I knew was coming has arrived.

I survived seven rounds of layoffs at my job (which I really loved, by the way.) only to get an email saying I was canned.

My wife always encouraged me to stick with it because she has a VERY good, high-paying job but man, it still sucks. She's encouraging me to take time off but I just feel like there's a ball of anxiety in the pit of my stomach. Thank God we're "DINKS" (Double Income No Kids...well at least we WERE double income) We have a ton of money saved up and I'm jumping on her benefits when mine end at the end of this month.

I've personally avoided AI for the most part, as I've been with this job for about eight years, aka a time period where artificial intelligence was really popping off, but now I gotta figure out how to use it for resume building/applying I guess. Rough start to September.

And what impresses more (in my humble opinion, of course) is the result. It makes the story actively really nice to follow, to unravel all the intrigue around, you get eager for it. It also turns Kliff actually into quite a charismatic character, not exaggerated and neither underacted. Very on point. You end up cheering for him - that was unimaginable back then.
