Gene's also last seen on Era handwaving rumors of developer Shift Up(Stellar Blade)'s awful and sexist corporate culture and political stance, dismissing criticisms of Stellar Blade's oversexualization of its main character as part of Korea's culture, and accusing criticisms against the game for those reasons as xenophobic.

Disclaimer: I am not fishing for sympathy, I'm not delusional so I know I was fully in the wrong and I'm not the victim here, I guess I just need to do this to process it and sort myself out.

TW: Cheating

I fully expect people who have been cheated on and people who came from a strained/divorced parents to give me a hard time here and I fully understand why.

The woman(28) and I(30) knew each other since we were in middle school, we had a short fling in high school, and we lost contact since then albeit we were still following each other on socials, and she got married 7 years ago and had two kids since then, the elder passed away when she was a few months old, and the younger is now 4. We met each other again at a wedding, where we both learned our families were related through marriage, and had my mother agreed to let a relative adopt me when I was born, we would have been raised as cousin-in-laws. The wedding was of a cousin of mine who was the elder of two sisters. We spoke for a bit at this revelation and never talked to each other again.

Years later, this past October, the younger of the two sisters got married and we saw each other again. She enthusiastically grabbed on to me when I called out to her and we both found somewhere more private for a chat. Things were still friendly at that point, I asked her how she was, whether she was happy, and she said everything was good and she still goes out to the club and hangs out with friends as a mom, so we made tentative plans to hang out together. She also introduced me to her husband(36) and her younger daughter at the wedding.

Weeks later, we met up to hang out, and we just talked for a while. I offered to take her home and she let me in to her family's apartment, and we continued talking until the topic started getting to our past fling. I admit, looking back, I was expecting something to happen, as we both know she had a history of being kind of promiscuous when we were younger, and I felt like she was testing the waters too. Then she kissed me out of nowhere and things happened, but we stopped short of intercourse as she was on her period. We then made immediate plans to go to a hotel the next week.

In the week between, what I was expecting to be a casual affair turned heavily serious and romantic, as she behaved fully as a person in love and she admitted she had unresolved feelings for me in our past fling, which could have led to the intensity of her feelings this time. She was practically lovebombing me, and the way I was treated and cared for by her made me truly fell for her too.

For the first month, things were intense and passionate, and we even talked about our future together. Since the beginning, she made it clear that she has been unhappy with her marriage for a long time, and it was loveless to begin with, and how her husband--while still supporting her financially--feels nonexistent as a partner, doesn't treat her as a priority, is cold yet controlling(down to her appearance and how she presents herself), and just never gives her the romance she wants even when they were still dating, and she had times when she wanted to take her daughter and leave before she met me again, and she's had a handful of one night stands/casual affairs before me, but this time it was different, she said. Her previous partners, even before marriage, were either pretty accomplished or very privileged people, with looks to match, and I was just an average guy with considerably lower socioeconomic status, especially compared to her husband, but she insisted she wanted me because of how loved she felt with me and how I made her happy, and she wanted us to build a future together. I'm not dumb, I know there was a strong chance she was letting her feelings drive her words, but she was consistent about it and her actions were in line with her words. For my part, I took her seriously and fully intended to work it out. Her only condition was that she wanted to be able to financially support herself and her daughter if she were to leave her husband, so it would only happen after either she or I could support all three of us. She said bringing her daughter was vital for her, as she is her top priority, and she asked me if I could accept that and I'd always told her yes.

In the second month, things got considerably harder because of her work. She works for her in-laws in several offices, and as the end of year was looming, her workload was immense. So we had less time to meet up in secret. Our relationship deteriorated during this, but every single time either of us were wavering, we made it clear we still wanted the same thing and we worked things out again, even during the worst of it. Later on, as Christmas break was nearing, even after she had more time, for some reason her husband were being unusually clingy and possessive of her. She started wondering if he was suspicious of us, and he were very uncharacteristically nice to her and took her to fancy dinners. It turns out that he found out about us by cloning her WhatsApp and he'd been reading our conversations for at least a couple of weeks before New Year's.

So yesterday, he confronted her with it, and she came clean to him. They both asked me to meet them at their place to end things. Her husband was relatively calm about it, though from his expression I could feel the barely suppressed rage and disappointment as all of us knew it wasn't the first time she's done this. He gave her a choice between staying with her family and still being provided for, but being unloved by him, or to pack her stuff and leave with me, being cut off from everything including her daughter. She obviously chose the former. Throughout all this, she was fully in denial to both of us, she acted as if it was never serious, even despite the overwhelming evidence we all knew her husband had. It greatly disappointed me, but I understood why she had to do that--to not lose her family and her daughter.

Things ended there, basically, but her husband later contacted me with vague threats that he's planning a surprise for me to get even, which does make me concerned though nothing's happened yet. She fully shut me out, still denying it was anything serious, and we've since only spoken coldly about sorting some belongings out. She's very likely still being closely monitored by her husband, as he made it clear he wants us to fully put a stop to it, and stop being friends altogether, so I really do understand her behavior even if it hurts me deeply.

Now I know things are much harder for the both of them; He'll never really be able to trust her again, and she'll never get out of her loveless marriage while being even more restricted than before. Her daughter almost got separated from her mother. I am not the victim in this. Yet I do still feel really heartbroken and guilty about my part in all this. I know the best thing for me to do is to just leave them alone, but it eats at my conscience and heart knowing that what we did made everything worse for her, and she might never recover from this. We will very likely not speak to each other ever again, but my heart really weeps for her situation now.

I feel so lost. I've done something so terrible and ended up hurting someone I truly care about. I don't know how to help myself get through this, or feel okay with myself again. I just feel so devastated, defeated, and empty now
