I mean we all knew it but to just come out and say it? Amazing

this entire paragraph just blows my mind.
Quote:There have been situations where a stray comment to the wrong person could have gotten people into real trouble in their real lives. Or at times we've been told information that specific users felt we need to know to do our jobs correctly, but that had to stay secret due to their privacy or harassment concerns. Choosing someone to do this job requires a level of trust in the person that I don't take lightly. Everyone on staff is beyond trustworthy and we are careful to make sure it stays that way in order to keep the users safe. This isn't the sort of job where we can ever really share everything we know when making certain decisions without breaking someone's trust.
why do they act like they're running a division of the CIA?

Bdubs, since I know you're reading this after your edit, is it legal for you and the mods to share user's personally identifiable information from off site or not? And I'm not talking about trust me bro. If someone was to write to the parent company asking which personal information has been shared by which admins on the discord, would that be provided?
It looks a lot to me like you've been sharing PI about your users offsite between yourselves and confirming it because you've got that information available to you in Resetera. Even if that was just email addresses that's completely fucked up.

Wait, did he just added that? I don't see edit and didn't see that post or else I would have quote that too lol

For posterity
I'm not saying this in bad faith, you are literally doing this, you just said so
I mean I guessed as much anyway but I thought you'd be careful at least
Fwiw it's not you that people need to be worried about...
Also there is a solid reason most forums don't run the way you guys are running Resetera, with little courts and your own 12 tables and the secret rules and all that nonsense. It's because at some point you have to cross a line you shouldn't.
He also removed the “edited x minutes ago” flair

i would like to point out the timestamps on that (and at least one other closed thread this morning) and remind everyone that the staff is able to move with unbelievable speed when they want to.
make a thread that suggests increasing the leverage the userbase has? 2 minutes.
make a thread about a jlo ig post? 2 minutes.
a mod misgenders someone in a thread because they likely didn't bother to read the OP/article? in a manner that has led to 2-week bans for normal ppl, despite their contrition and editing of the offending post? and leaves it up for...ever? no response.
we hear, repeatedly, that they can't be in all threads all the time, so please be understanding when they can't respond to a concern in a timely manner...unless they want to.

So why are Ree mods and admins comfortable with transphobic misogynistic pedo racist owner B-Dubs?

I hope for the sake of GDPR they've deleted the PI

Everyone on staff is trustworthy. Unlike the other guy we had on staff back then who was a pedo, or the guy who founded the site with 100% ownership and then sold it and the entire user bases' data for millions without paying us anything at all, we truly learned our lesson and any moderator who breaches that trust will soon be placed on break.
Yeah, I'll never understand the point of admins and mods who have On Break while still posting.

I think they're talking about Amir0x but yeah Opiate is a pedo too. He did made Fictional go away after he concluded she shouldn't post in a pedo sympathizing thread while she told her story from experiences.
how long until GDPR doesn't even matter and you can take 100 random public posts from someone and use AI to extrapolate where they are from and what all their other opinions are and what they are likely to say on any given issue

My business partner had an idea that wasn't received well by all our employees. Basically he wanted to create AI personas of all of us and then have them debate to see how accurate our AI selves would respond (i.e. would Nintex side with Trump in a debate about the US elections). Some employees protested that they didn't want him to use our data and run experiments like that.

Childishly wanting an an entire genre of films to fail just because you don't like it is much more embarrassing when you can simply... not watch them. I know, that's a crazy concept.
Also, a quick ProTip: if superhero movies disappear, they will not be replaced with prestige dramas. They will be replaced with other explosion-filled popcorn blockbusters where the only real difference is less spandex.

He said her AI likely wouldn't share any of her personal data so she didn't have to worry and she didn't like that one bit. He also suggested things like changing her name, age and gender. She was like no no no no no no
