Feudal peasants didn't work 8+ hours every day. Work day length increased with capitalism because capitalists want infinite money, which necessitates producing as much crap as possible, which means we work beyond our productive capacity and even what automation should entail.

I'm not an expert like CapNep but didn't they work the hours of the sun? What is a feudal farmer supposed to work on when they can't see? How did these ancient workers pay off their Versa payments with the exploitative borrowing rate?

Some moron added up all the feudal duties a peasant had to their lord and concluded it was less work than 8 hours/day or 150 days/year or something and got it published in an academic journal or something.

Completely ignoring all the subsistence farming work and tending to animals they had to do to grow enough food to survive the year.

The only perk someone living as serf in a feudal society had was getting to fuck their wife at night because there was nothing else to do, and even that was less of a perk and more of a safety margin to continue their lineage because most of their kids would die before being able to assist in the back breaking daily chores

Rosseau wrote an autobiography. It's amazing. I honestly don't know how people can't read Rosseau based on his own life. Especially when they tell us all our ideology is the result of our class.
