imagine you watch your grandson grow up his whole life, you watch him and help take care of him at times, you go to his baseball games, you are so proud of him, he's such a nice young man

and you never do anything to hurt anybody, yeah you have some opinions but they don't amount to anything practical, you just live your quiet grandma life knitting and drinking tea and hoping the grandkids are doing ok

and then this happens

The simple of it is that one of our members started posting 'haha funny Trump won' memes in our discord as well as other things implying that all lgbt folks are pedophiles.  The DM banned him because they don't tolerate that kind of nonsense.  Two other members jumped ship afterwards, one because he was friends with the first guy and had more fun in game with him, and the other because he thought he should be banned as well for believing that pedos were hiding amongst lgbt groups. 

So now our group doesn't have enough players to continue.  The two of us that remain are still willing to keep going and are friendly with the DM.  He said we'll try to pick things up in January but I'm not sure if we'll pick up new folks or not.  I've only been in two D&D games in my whole life, the first one I ended up leaving because of group tensions and now this one is messed up too.  *sigh*  I don't fault the DM for what they did, I agree with it honestly.  I'm just sad that this happened.

Maybe, instead of dealing with that person like a Retardera moderator, they should have just said, "Hey dude, stop posting that shit in here. Leave it for Facebook" and then continued on their day.

Last I saw…voting numbers were up in all the swing states (just Trump was able to get more people).

Not a surprise numbers were down in non swing states who probably had a number of democrats pissed about xyz who figured their vote didn't matter much this time and stayed home in protest (or didn't vote for president to "punish" Kamala).

That is really cool, but I wonder how the reaction is from PlayStation gamers, because there was a lot of negativity from my fellow Xbox gamers when MS released Xbox games on PlayStation. I'm all in for this, can't wait to play.

There is so much to unpack in these posts.

The arrogance of 'educating' people, rather than having a discussion with and attempting to understand why they feel how they feel, and why those feelings led them to vote the way they did.

The refusal to see my point as anything other than a literal one-off dinner conversation. I am talking more broadly about communicating, understanding, insight.

The branding of literally everyone that voted for Trump as a Nazi. This is absurd, unhelpful, quite obviously untrue if you think about it for longer than a moment.

Their understanding of others is constant projection. They "know" others want them dead because as they show constantly they think anyone who disagrees with them or they dislike in any way should be dead or worse. They "know" others have these absurd obsessive thoughts about whiteness or gender or sex or whatever else because that's what they think about those things. They "know" others see everything exactly as they do but just make the inverse choice to be bad instead of good because nobody has different experiences or anything else from them. They "know" others are always plotting and harassing people because that's what they do. They "know" others see everything, no matter how irrelevant, as these grand existential battles for everything where the stakes are going to be the maximum possible because they do. They "know" others just can't wait to say slurs or be sex creeps because that's what they have to resist. They "know" others see no value in family or friends or jobs because they don't. They "know" chuds only care about the skin colors and sexes of characters because that's all they do. So on and so on.

Just look at how Nepenthe constantly lectures everyone on what all whites or men or tech bros or "capitalists" or "liberals" believe, even though she's never been any of these things, and it always just happens to align perfectly with what she believes except they choose the wrong conclusion.

Look at all their "genocide" conversations be it Gaza or trans people. Never are their opponents imagined to disagree that it's genocide, they always know it is, they just deny it or support it because they're evil souls.

They have no arguments for anything so they have to assume neither do their opponents. Look at that citizenship thread, not a single post could explain why other people should assume the Supreme Court would be fine with it. All their side had were ignorant assertions and chastising anyone who was more realistic for not just believing their incredible assertions they couldn't support. That's how every discussion on there goes, they just hurl assertions at others, there's never arguments taking other people as not just acting in good faith but capable of understanding. They instantly reject both out of hand if someone disagrees with their conclusion. A person who disagrees is just assumed to be incapable of understanding or is trolling.
